Cuban Revolution leader Raul Castro and President Miguel Diaz-Canel attended an exhumation ceremony of the mortal remains of Cuban revolutionary combatants in the eastern territory of Tercer Frente Oriental.

The remains of some 19 revolutionaries killed in action or who died after the 1959 triumph of the Cuban Revolution were exhumed to join those of their chief Commander Juan Almeida Bosque, wrote the Cuban President on X.

The “Tercer Frente Oriental” or Third Western Guerrilla Front was opened by Commander Juan Almeida during the Cuban liberation war (1956-1958) against the dictatorship of former Cuban President Fulgencio Batista.
