Guantanamo.- Nearly twenty presentations earned the categories of Relevant, Outstanding and Mention in the provincial Forum for Innovation 2024 and Event of Creative Women in the Health sector, held this Friday in the halls of the University of Medical Sciences of Guantánamo.
About 50 professionals and technicians from different healthcare institutions in the eastern territory and students from the Medicine program participated in the event, who presented 61 scientific results and inventions aimed at maintaining healthcare services, despite the limitations of material resources in the country.
The Master of Science Moraima Isalgué Marcillí, director of Science and Technological Innovation at the House of Higher Studies, stated that the Forum addressed topics related to the efforts of the Electromedicine Center to maintain the technical availability of the equipment and surgical and stomatological procedures in the hospitals and polyclinics of the province.
Other issues discussed by the participants dealt with the design and construction of a single-chamber chest drainage system for patients with pneumothorax and hemothorax, and teaching resources to improve understanding of dispensarization in the evaluation of the health-disease process.
They also presented a papers on the use of plastic arts and andragogy to prevent gender and symbolic violence in older adult caregivers, the recovery of metal syringes for washing ears, and the recovery of solenoid valves from the PROBAMAT dental set.
The members of the Jury, with high professional and teaching qualifications, were in charge of evaluating the presentations, marked by rigor in the application of research methods and techniques in search of the objectives proposed in each research work.
PhD. Anselma Betancourt Pulsán, Heroine of Labor of the Republic of Cuba and director of the Provincial Council of Scientific Health Societies, highlighted the importance of the meeting and its value for those who assume prevention and medical care in Guantánamo, and its impact on the defense of the quality of life of patients and the rest of the population.
