Guantanamo.- In the context of the 36th edition of the Guantánamo-Baracoa Theater Crusade, Roberto Tomás Mirabal Céspedes, director of the La Familia Theater Company, expressed his enthusiasm for participating once again in this event, which he considers unique experience every year.
He emphasized the importance of bringing art to isolated and underserved rural communities in Guantanamo Province, and he said despite the challenges of the current economic crisis and fuel shortage, his mission focuses on pure art, distancing itself from commercialism.
Mirabal shared how the Crusade has influenced his personal projects, such as La Tropa de Cambolo, and mentioned his focus on storytelling, highlighting his work “Papirolandia,” aimed primarily at children.
He also considered the Crusade’s relevance as a space for artists to reconnect and collaborate.
Finally, he expressed his hope that the Crusade would continue its work and thanked those who believe in the power of art to build bridges in the face of adversity.
During 36 editions, the Guantanamo Baracoa Theater Crusade remains a vital initiative that promotes arts in the hard-to-reach region of the Cuban easternmost end.
