Schetinin remembered that as a legacy of the so-called Cold War, the United States is intensifying its economic, commercial, and financial siege at all costs, a hostile policy destined to fail in its objective of overthrowing the Revolution that triumphed in 1959.
There are elements within the northern country determined to worsen the situation of the Cuban population. There are forces that are betting on overthrowing its current system, but they will not succeed, he noted, due to the firmness and great national unity.
He also described Cuba’s inclusion on a list of alleged sponsors of terrorism as obsolete and lacking in arguments and called for the Caribbean nation to be immediately removed from the spurious list.
Cuba has the majority support of the international community, he said, especially within the United Nations, whose General Assembly approves a resolution year after year condemning the measure and urging Washington to cease the unjust practice.
