Russia’s Foreign Minister Serguei Lavrov is scheduled to hold talks with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez during a scheduled visit to Havana on February 19th, Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Maria Zajarova announced in Moscow.
During the talks with the Cuban head of state and his local counterpart, Lavrov expects to address bilateral cooperation, as well as issues of international and regional interest, said Zajarova as cited by PL news agency.
The meetings will focus on key issues to strengthen the Russia-Cuba strategic alliance on the basis of deeper political dialog and the enhancing of links in areas such as trade, finances, investment, science and technology, culture and humanitarian assistance.
The two sides will also consider bilateral cooperation actions to prevent the undermining of the principles and norms of international law and the UN Charter by neo-colonial trends and unilateral, illegitimate and restrictive measures in the relations between the states, Zajarova noted.
