Guantanamo.- On his recent visit to Guantánamo, Salvador Valdés Mesa, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and Vice President of the Republic, toured several economic objectives within the province.
He visited the Argeo Martínez sugar mill in Manuel Tames Municipality, where he assessed preparations for the upcoming sugar milling season set to commence on January 7.
During his visit to the Argeo Martínez sugar mill, Valdés Mesa was briefed on significant investment projects focused on enhancing both construction and technology within the facility.
The initiatives include the restoration of the roof over the sugar production finishing area and upgrades to the pre-evaporator boiler, essential for maintaining water quality.
These refurbishments are expected to bolster energy efficiency and overall product quality and also guarantee safety and sustainability.
The Palma construction company from Santiago de Cuba has been executing these projects since August. However, progress was temporarily hindered due to the impacts of Hurricane Melissa.
The investments and improvements being made at the Central Argeo Martínez signify an important step towards revitalizing the local sugar industry and ensuring its long-term viability in the region.
