Guantanamo.- The scientific and technical services of the Center for Technological Applications for Sustainable Development (CATEDES, in Spanish abbreviation), in Guantánamo Province, contribute to the province’s socioeconomic progress.

Among its environmental impact studies, CATEDES stands out for its work on the Disaster Risk Reduction Plan for Civil Defense and state services regarding the ecosystems of the Southern Coastal Strip and the beach rehabilitation project, both of which contribute to the Life Task (Tarea Vida) in the territory.

It also works on the Resilient Farms and Coffee Value Chain Strengthening projects, which continue to contribute to the sustainable development of ecosystems and increased yields of this export commodity.

CATEDES also produces neem oil and Neem Khali Cake Powder, valuable agricultural products, thanks to the plant’s properties as a carbon sink, a biofertilizer that protects the soil, and a potent insecticide, effective against pests and diseases in various crops.
