Guantánamo.- The province of Guantánamo carries out the second phase of the National Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign to keep this disease eliminated, which is an infectious disease that affects the central nervous system, and can cause severe deformities, paralysis, and even death in children.
Dr. María Elena Sánchez García, head of the province’s Vaccination Program, stated that medical and nursing staff are reviewing statistics to ensure that the approximately 15,000 children under one month old to three years old receive the second dose, while 9-year-olds will be given a booster or booster dose.
The second stage runs from June 17 to 21 with recovery between June 24 and 28 for sick children, among other reasons that prevented them from being vaccinated on the corresponding date within of the campaign.
