Guantanamo.- The second stage of the 63rd anti-polio vaccination campaign will be carried out on June 17 and 21. Two doses of the bivalent oral immunogen will be administered, in the Guantanamo Province, to 18,015 children from one month old to two years, 11 months and 29 days.
Likewise, the vaccine will be reactivated with one dose for 7,431 nine-year-old children. In total, 25,446 infants will receive the dose, according to Dr. María Elena Sánchez García, who is the responsible for the immunization program.
Dr. Sánchez also specified that for sick children, among other reasons that prevented them from being vaccinated on the corresponding date within of the campaign, will receive the dose between June 24 and 28.
The doctor reiterated that the vaccine should not be administered to patients who present a fever of 38 degrees Celsius or higher, vomiting or diarrhea; It is contraindicated for immunodeficient children and they should wait at least 30 minutes before or after immunization to drink water.
