Guantánamo – The Social Assistance system in Guantánamo currently protects 5,629 family units with more than nine thousand beneficiaries, an expression of the State’s will NOT to leave anyone helpless despite the complex economic situation that the country is going through.
Odalis Mainar, a specialist in the Directorate of Labor and Social Security, explained to CMKS Radio Station that the Social Assistance system has benefited some 3,956 older adults, just over 1,600 people with disabilities, 125 combatants in addition to a hundred Guantanamo residents enrolled in the Assistant Program Social at Home.
She highlighted that some 183 mothers with children with severe disability also benefit from social assistance, which allows them to offer support and certain resources in the face of the challenge they face in caring for their children.
On the other hand, in the easternmost province, about ten family units receive payment of the electricity rate and 47 people access the Family Care System protected by social assistance as they do not have sufficient income to access these services.
To deliver this care policy that benefits 5,629 family units, the territory has a budget of 174 million pesos this year, which in its execution supports economic benefits and a wide range of services aimed at protecting those most in need.
