From December 15 to 18, the twenty-seventh issue of the Guantanamo Styled Festival will kick off in this eastern city, dedicated this year to the 153rd anniversaries of the declaration of the city as a town, the 145th birth anniversary of the writer Regino Eladio Boti and the two decades of the proclamation of the Santa Catalina de Ricci Tumba Francesa, as Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and with Haiti as a guest country.

Other motivations for this cultural event are the 45 years of artistic life of Maestro Ladislao Navarro Tomasén, and the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Danza Fragmentada Company, as well as the five decades of research work of the city’s historian José Sánchez Guerra.

The opening gala ”Razones” in the Polifunccional Pedro Agustín Pérez Square is scheduled, with the participation of the Danza Fragmentada company, soloist Virginia Guantanamera,  pianist René Méndez, the Changüí Guantanamo Group and students from the Alfredo Velázquez Carcasés Professional Dance School, as explained by its artistic director Lázaro McPherson Williams in a press conference.

The 2023 Guantanamo Styled Festival will also be a space for the Provincial Directorate of Culture in the territory to confer the Brotherhood Distinction, the highest recognition granted annually by this institution to creators, artistic groups, researchers and sociocultural projects with a meritorious imprint.
