Under the motto “For Cuba more productive and efficient”, the workers of the Energy Union in Guantanamo received the flag for the tenth anniversary of the constitution of that structure, an event that will be celebrated on September 18.

From Santiago de Cuba the banner was received by Mercedes Ventosa Elizastigui, the highest union leader of the sphere in the territory, from her counterpart in the city, in an event that took place at the headquarters of the Provincial Electric Company.

The union leader called for putting capacity, intelligence, creativity, initiative and control in the battle for efficiency in the face of the input shortage due to the US blockade to Cuba, in order to fulfill the plans, which contribute to improve the quality of life of residents in the easternmost territory of Cuba.

She also said that the presence in Guantanamo of the Tenth Anniversary banner of the Energy Union is an opportunity to exalt the performance of the labor force, a sector that, in addition to being one of the strategic ones in the Cuban economy, demands a lot of sacrifice and dedication.

In Guantanamo, there are more than 2,700 men and women affiliated with the Union, doing tasks such as electricity service, fuel marketing, salt production, industrial gases and others with great socioeconomic impact.
