Guantanamo.- The Provincial Directorate of Culture in Guantánamo awarded the Hermandad (Brotherhood) Plaque to Alfredo Velázquez Carcassés Professional Dance School, (PDS, in Spanish) in the context of the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the founding of this institution that becomes a regional benchmark center for artistic education in the country.
During an interactive cultural gala that toured the diverse spaces of the Alfredo Velázquez Carcassés Professional Dance School, the head of the Culture sector in Guantánamo, Yoelvys Labañino López, presented the Brotherhood Distinction to the director of this artistic education institution and deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power, Manuel Aguilar Ruiz.
The national president of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), Yasel Toledo Garnache, also participated in this commemorative event, in which the group paid tribute to and recalled the artistic influence of the late dancer and choreographer Alfredo Velázquez Carcassés, whose name honors this institution, and also dedicated a moment of honor to assistants and teacher staff with significant careers.
The celebration of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Alfredo Velázquez Carcassés Professional Dance School in Guantánamo was also characterized by the performances of changüí, folklore, contemporary dance, rumba, and popular traditional dances choreographies, performed by students from different educational levels enrolled at this regional arts center
