Guantanamo.- As part of the 47th Guantánamo Culture Week, the City Historian, José Sánchez Guerra, presented the book “Memoirs of the Cuban Nation (I): Formation and Liberation of the Nation” at the Major General Pedro Agustín Pérez House Museum. The book was written by Doctors of Science Eduardo Torres Cuevas and Yoel Cordoví Nuñez.
During the presentation, Sánchez Guerra, who is also a writer and researcher, spoke about the significance of this text for understanding and studying Cuban history from 1492 to 1898. He noted that the book is a valuable resource for readers, as it includes maps, documentary records, and explanatory charts.
Similarly, as part of Sánchez Guerra’s presentation of this historiographical research, published by Editorial Ciencias Sociales in the country, he recalled to the libertarian legacy of the illustrious Guantánamo patriot Pedro Agustín Pérez, leader of the independence uprising in La Confianza on February 24, 1895.
The First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Guantánamo, the director of the Culture sector in the territory, Yoelvys Labañino López, and Idaliena Díaz Casmayor, President of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, participated in the event, accompanied by students and teachers from the Pedro Agustín Pérez Junior High School.
At the end of the event, teachers from the schools invited to the meeting, along with directors of institutions in the Culture sector and the Schools of Artistic Education in Guantánamo, received a copy of the book: “Memories of the Cuban Nation (I): Formation and liberation of the nation”, so that this text can also be included in their bibliographic heritage.
