Guantanamo.- As every January, the history and triumphal journey of Fidel and the Rebel Army vibrates, now with other young people, the caravanists of today, full of freedom, as 66 years ago, cheering the Revolution, aware of the leading role that they have to assume in the Cuba of these times.
Thus, in that journey through towns, fields and cities, the bearded men come back to memory, who in their transit through those places, were not promising Cubans perks, but the opportunity to achieve dignity and decorum.
The members of the Rebel Army traveled more than 1000 kilometers, led by Fidel who honored the verbal commitment before a crowd that praised the generation that was involved in the epic and made possible a great historical change in Latin America.
For seven days the Caravan of Freedom traveled with a mass demonstration of popular joy that listened attentively to the words of the Cuban leader committed to giving the nation a different future.
Fidel said: “I believe that this is a decisive moment in our history: tyranny has been overthrown. The joy is immense. And yet, there is still much to be.”
Fidel’s feat was enormous, who together with Camilo Cienfuegos, Che Guevara, Juan Almeida Bosque, Raúl Castro and other bearded young men led and earned the respect of many. The triumph of the Revolution made the José Marti’s idea, (the Apostle of Cuban independence), of a Republic with everyone and for the good of everyone, came true.
It has been 66 years since the Caravan of Freedom entered the capital of Cuba, today young people, pioneers, fighters, the entire people are celebrating with the determination to continue defending the work that the Commander in Chief bequeathed to us.
As in that time and when Fidel asked: Am I doing well, Camilo?, the people responded: We are doing well, Fidel, in this journey of building dreams because, as he himself expressed, the Revolution is just, it is humane and all the noble feelings of man fit in it.
From January 2 to 8, 1959, freedom traveled through Cuba in a Caravan and, as it has done for 66 years, the people reiterated the same promise to defend independence without neglecting unity, in challenging circumstances.
