Guantánamo – The Chaplin Cinema in Havana will present the premiere of “The Children of Bernarda,” a film that is representing the province of Guantánamo at the National Film Showcase and Competition in the Cuban capital, which runs until the end of January.

The film, directed by Anderlay Guerra Blanco and produced by the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS), is complemented by the eponymous choreography by dancer and choreographer Elio Oreste Reina and the Danza Libre company. Its narrative conveys the complex family dynamics, tensions, and conflicts that arise from social prejudices stemming from the inability to accept the sexual diversity of individuals raised together.

“The Children of Bernarda,” with music by DJ Jeafrei Lewis Ortiz Manzanares, stands out among a diverse selection of works from all regions of the country.

Organized by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), the National Film Showcase and Competition is a space that promotes the freshness and creativity of new talents dedicated to the art of cinema.
