Guantánamo.- Telephone services in Baracoa have been fully recovered from the effects caused by Hurricane Oscar.
Although the damage reached 80 percent of the territory’s telephone infrastructure, the task was completed on November 20, one month after the meteor passed.
Engineer Carlos Labañino Toirac, Head of the Etecsa Commercial Group in the municipality, said that the repair actions took time in the first days since the restoration of electricity had to be awaited.
Thanks to the attention of the country’s leadership, he added, technical, material and human resources arrived in the territory to carry out continuous work for several weeks.
The engineer thanked the brigades of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) from the provinces of Havana, Las Tunas, Holguín, Granma and Guantánamo, who have freed one of the most important fronts to achieve the restoration of the service in the municipality.
At this time, with the telephone system restored from the damage caused by the hydrometeorological event, the ETECSA workers in Baracoa are responding to individual complaints from the population to guarantee the quality of the telecommunications service.
