Guantanamo.- It has already been four days since the arrival in the mountains of Yateras of the actors, actresses and troubadours who join the XXXV edition of the Guantanamo-Baracoa Theatrical Crusade.
With each day of presentations, the “crusaders” go deeper and deeper into the green landscapes of the mountainous town. During their journey and life in the campaign, they are warmly received with applause, and the attention of the locals such as Lorenzo Columbié Machado.
For this farmer, who is fond of music and leads the group Son del Barrio, it is already a tradition to collect fruit to offer to the artists who come to the Palenque town with their love and art every February 4.
Each theatrical performance leaves a message that is appreciated by children, young people and adults. In time with their performance, the artists also give lectures, workshops, classes and talks to the members of the José Martí Brigade of Art Instructors.
Dedicated to José Martí, the most universal of Cubans, to the indigenous mark on Cuban culture and to Brazil for the preservation of its native culture, the Guantánamo-Baracoa Theater Crusade in its 35th edition brings its talent to the inhabitants of more than a dozen mountain settlements in the Yateras Municipality.
Puppets, oral narrations, the essence of a project of love that inspires new dreams in each performance.
