Guantanamo.- Shows and performance, theoretical exchanges, artistic competitions and other novelties are among the proposals of the XI Elio Revé Matos Changüí Festival, which from June 27 to 30, will bring together followers and performers of this musical genre in the Guantánamo City, as part of the activities scheduled for the summer and the programming of the Provincial Music Center Lilí Martínez Griñán.

Yudileisi García Lara, Communication specialist at said center, announced that the main activities include talks, colloquiums on the hallmark of changüí, concerts by emblematic local and foreign groups, along with the usual Latamblet route around the Traditions Area.

Important moments of the event will be the Pedro Speck Changüí creation competition for composers of the genre, while the day before the start of the event there will be changüí dance classes, concerts in the afternoon of the bands of Elito and Oderquis Revé, and the gala show in tribute to Chito Latamblet Veranes on his 108th birthday anniversary.

The invited artists and groups include Son del Guaso, Conjunto Cuerdas del Monte, Yarima Blanco, Michael Elizalde; and as representation of the local exponents, includes the professional and amateur catalog, among which are the groups Morenos del Changüí, Estrellas Campesinas, Joyas del Caribe, Órgano Guantanamero Melodías del Guaso and Annalie López.

The facilities that will provide their services during the festival will be the Casa de la Trova, the La Guantanamera Cultural Center of Artex, Café Cantante América, Video Bar La Esquina, the Pedro Agustín Pérez multifunctional square and Jesús del Sol streets to the corner from the Elio Revé Matos park. The festival will extend to the municipalities of Caimanera, Yateras, El Salvador and Manuel Tames.
