Guantánamo.- The Vida Program of the Ruta Joven del Comercio, an initiative that unites the efforts of institutions and community actors with the goal of providing social and emotional support to children with cancer and other chronic illnesses, officially began in the province of Guantánamo.

As a first action, the program’s implementers visited the Pedro Agustín Pérez Pediatric Hospital, where they shared moments of love, hope, and joy with the young patients and their families, reported José Angel Calviño Pérez, General Director of the Grupo Empresarial de Comercio.

During the day, several activities took place, including karaoke for singing and smiling together, donations and gifts were handed out, meetings with medical staff to talk about the history and work of the hospital, as well as meetings with the patients’ families.

The program was supported by institutions committed to the cause, including the Commerce Business Group, the Commerce Union Section, and the lodging, wholesale, real estate, and municipal companies in the sector.

Calviño Pérez emphasized on his Facebook profile that this first initiative marks the beginning of many others that, through commerce with heart, seek to make a change in the lives of those most in need.
