Guantanamo.- The Cuban-Italian joint venture BioCubaCafé held the theoretical event “The Forest Revolution: Science, Production, and Culture in the Forest,” at the University of Guantánamo’s main campus, as part of the activities of the 9th Chocolate and Coffee Festival.

The event was presided over by Yoel Pérez García, President of the Provincial Defense Council; Michele Curto, President of the BioCubaCafé S.A. joint venture; Waldo Mendoza, Honorary President of the Chocolate and Coffee Festival; Osiris Aranda, Rector of the University of Guantánamo; and Omar López, City Historian of Santiago de Cuba.

The event celebrated the 25th anniversary of the inscription of the archaeological landscape of the first coffee plantations in southeastern Cuba as a World Heritage Site, which highlights the richness of this environment and calling for the conservation and protection of these cultural treasures.

A particularly special moment was the presentation of the 155th Anniversary Coffee brand, a tribute to Guantánamo City that marked another year since its declaration as a town. This coffee aims to evoke the natural and cultural richness of eastern Cuba; it is a 100% natural product and accessible to the public through the BioCubaCafé S.A. website.

The event also addressed BioCubaCafé S.A.’s collaboration with new projects at the University of Oriente. This partnership allows students of social communication and journalism to contribute to promoting the history of coffee, while agronomy students participate in the cultivation and harvesting process to learn about the biological and cultural aspects of coffee production.
