Guantánamo – The Holguin singer-songwriter Lidis Lamorú starred in the opening of the children’s parade of the 2024 San Joaquín del Guaso Carnival in the Guantánamo City, with interpretations of her most popular songs from her repertoire such as Don Lagartijo, and also her single Casa Cariño y Ternura, Familia Pura.
During the opening ceremony, the Lidis Lamorú, after her tour of this territory as part of the celebrations of her 30 years of artistic life, received the honor of her public and the Municipal Directorate of Culture in Guantánamo, with the presentation of a recognition from the hands of the head of this union at the same instance, Elio Omar Fuentes Caboverde.
The following folkloric structures, La Cecilita, Renacer Cossiá and Montompolo Infantil, heirs to dance and music traditions of French-Haitian origin presented several choreographies on the Rubén López Sabariego House of Culture in this eastern city.
Likewise, the dynamism of the conga interpretations, the creativity in the choreographic conception and the colorful costumes distinguished the performances of the comparsas: Los Rumberitos del Este, Raíces del Sur, Los Guaracheritos del Caribe and La Caoba, children of the El Patio de Adela Community Sociocultural Project of the popular neighborhood Loma del Chivo.
On the other hand, two floats enlivened the children’s parade, one of them with the ensemble Colmenita Guantánamo, and the masks on foot, puppets and identity characters such as El San Joaquín del Guaso didn’t miss on the parade, dedicated to the children of the territory.
The children’s parade was hosted by actor Eldis Luis Cuba Milan, with a script and artistic direction by Arleidis Gamboa, while a jury made up of specialists in music, dance, plastic arts and researchers of popular traditions evaluated the proposals presented during this day, whose winners in their different categories will be announced next Sunday, August 18, at the culmination of the San Joaquín del Guaso 2024 carnival.
