Maestro Jesús Cepeda Brenes, known as the Major Drum of la Bomba in Puerto Rico, will put an end to the first Tumbomba Encounter, with the company of folklorists from his country, an event that will conclude on June 13, at 8:30 pm, at the Guantanamo Guaso Theater.

Professional dance companies from the eastern territory and students of the Alfredo Velázquez Carcasés Professional School will also perform on stage. They will perform a show directed by Maestro Ernesto Llewellyn, director of the Babul Folk Ballet.

The event includes performances by the Danza Libre and Danza Fragmentada companies, as well as high school students from the academic center and the Puerto Rican Tumbomba project, made up of anthropologists, musicians and educators, who share knowledge of Caribbean history and music.

The program of activities included book presentations, lectures and workshops, in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Holguín, in communities and the musical jamming with the Guantanamo groups Oba Ilu Ará, the Caverchelo, Celso Fernández y su Changüí group from Yateras and Los Cossia and Assossyé.

Cepeda Brenes, president of the Rafael Cepeda Foundation, Patriarch of Bomba and Plena music genres, said that the Tumbomba event is a contribution to culture, society, and also a call of the peoples for their future preparation.
