Two thousand 64 new professionals graduated from Guantanamo University(UG) with degrees in Pedagogical, Social, Humanistic, Agroforestry, Economic and Tourism Sciences, the latter being awarded for the first time to 11 young people.
With this ceremony held at the Regino Eladio Boti headquarters, the House of Science and Progress closed another chapter in its formation with the delivery to Guantanamo society to date of more than 58,417 professionals since its foundational beginnings.
During the event, 277 young people received Gold Degrees for their outstanding careers in teaching, research, sports, culture and social impact tasks, the highest number of this type of diplomas awarded by the UG since its foundation.
Also, 54 young people received the Scientific Merit Award for their research contributions to improve and promote the agricultural, forestry, economic and pedagogical development of Guantanamo province.
At the graduation gala of Guantanamo University, the best graduates of the Encounter, Distance, Day and Short Cycle courses of the nine municipal and provincial campuses were also recognized.
Osiris Aranda Creagh, rector of the Casa de Altos Estudios Universidad de Guantánamo, expressed that the graduation of this group of students is a very valuable event for this center.
She also thanked the representatives of the organizations, the faculty, tutors and professors for guaranteeing the quality training of the new graduates, who are in charge of improving the economic, political and social development of the province and its municipalities with their knowledge.
