Guantanamo.- The University of Medical Sciences of Guantánamo (UCMGT) calls 11th-grade students across the province to apply for degree programs offered through the University College track for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Selected students will complete the 12th grade in the first semester under university faculty guidance. The second semester will focus on career-related activities and practical experiences within the National Health System.
The University College addresses a critical need to train motivated, responsible professionals committed to medical sciences, supporting the qualified workforce essential to the province and the health system’s sustainability.
Applicants must meet the following criteria: currently enrolled in 11th grade; a minimum academic index of 90 points from 10th grade; at least 90 points in Mathematics, Spanish, Biology, and Chemistry across both 10th and 11th grades; and strong recommendations from the Federation of Secondary Education Students, the Young Communist Union, and their school administration based on demonstrated responsibility, patriotism, and ethical values. Commitment to serve locally or as required by the National Health System is mandatory.
The provincial exam in Chemistry and Biology will be held on May 25, with an interview scheduled for June 10 focusing on national, international, and health system topics. Admission grants direct entry into UCMGT degree programs without further entrance exams, according to Resolution 119-21.
Applications are due May 18–22 through school secretariats submitting student lists to the university’s Admissions Department. Inquiries may be directed to the Directorate of General Education or UCMGT Admissions.
