Three adults and a 13-year-old girl continue to be hospitalized among the 21 injured of the accident that occurred in the morning hours last Wednesday in the vicinity of Loma de Mariana, in the municipality of San Antonio del Sur, after the overturning of a KAMAZ passenger bus in that coastal territory.

The information offered by Dr. Luis Alberto Ramírez Díaz, director of the Doctor Agostinho Neto General Hospital, indicates that the rest of the injured were discharged, and only those referred remain hospitalized.

According to the physician, a 71-year-old patient with liver tear and bilateral hemopneumothorax is in serious but stable condition, and another 24-year-old patient with a penetrating abdominal injury;

while another person is reported for care, who suffered a traumatic opening of the pubis.

The 13-year-old girl continues to be seriously ill, although her evolution is satisfactory in the intermediate therapy room: “she is conscious, oriented, talks and communicates,” said Dr. Francisco Marsilli Faure, director of the Pedro Agustín Perez Children´s Hospital.

The patient suffered a bilateral fracture of the tibia and fibula.

She was treated for periorbital facial edema, without affecting the eyeball, and she is recovering from the leg fracture, with no other evident injuries according to the CT scanner.

After the accident on Wednesday, both hospitals immediately prepared the conditions to receive the patients and the main authorities of the Communist Party, the Government and the Provincial Health authorities in the province attended there.

The accident took place in a rainy scenario, when the transport left the road and fell down a slope, according to the specialized investigations in progress.’

On May 8, a traffic accident in the same area left four dead and 15 injured.
