“We will give lessons in international diplomacy based on Bolívar’s doctrine,” stated Delcy Rodríguez in a message addressed to the people of the United States, emphasizing that, despite the events that “leave a stain on the history of bilateral relations,” Venezuela will not act out of hatred. “It is not revenge, it is vindication,” she declared.

The acting head of state invoked the doctrine of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, highlighting that the Venezuelan Army has been trained for defense, not for war. “Bolívar never taught the use of supremacy to humiliate anyone; there was always respect for the dignity of the adversary,” he recalled, quoting the Bolivarian maxim: “Liberty is the only objective worthy of the sacrifice of men.” He also emphasized that Venezuelan service members wear their uniforms to protect the Republic and defend national morale.
At the same event, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez paid tribute to the Venezuelan and Cuban combatants who died during the January 3rd attack. “I came from Cuba to pay a heartfelt tribute to the Venezuelan combatants who fell in combat defending the Bolivarian Revolution and the sacred Venezuelan homeland,” he declared before Delcy Rodríguez and high-ranking officers of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.

Bruno Rodríguez highlighted the work of the Cuban troops who, “in unequal combat, confronted the imperialist enemy that was desecrating the sovereignty of the Venezuelan homeland and protecting the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro Moros.” He extended a message of “honor and glory” to the fallen and of “love and peace” to the civilians killed.
Both authorities elevated the Venezuelan and Cuban combatants who fell in defense of the national territory to the status of Heroes of the Nation.
Furthermore, they reiterated that the Bolivarian and Cuban revolutions are beacons for the liberation of Latin America, in loyalty to the ideals of Bolívar, Martí, Hugo Chávez, and Fidel Castro.
