Guantánamo – Reynaldo Velázquez Zaldívar, Vice Minister of Higher Education (MES), checked the restoration of the Municipal University Center (CUM) of San Antonio del Sur, which suffered considerable damage to the teaching-administrative documentation, as well as the furniture and technological equipment after the passage of Hurricane Oscar.
The director praised the work carried out in the university facilities and highlighted the role of the political leaders, student and union organizations of the University of Guantánamo.
Velázquez Zaldívar exchanged with directors and workers on the recovery of the documentation of the Teaching Secretariat, the use of the SIGENU computer platform to support this process and the organization of the continuity of studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
During the exchange, the MES also recognize the Cuban universities that sent donations to the workers and students who lost personal and household good due to the floods.
A special mention for the Universidad de Oriente, which in addition to donations, sent a maintenance and construction brigade to restore the teaching and administrative areas of the CUM in San Antonio del Sur.
