Guantánamo – In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Oscar on Baracoa territory, the communities of the Jamal district have received a wave of solidarity and support through donations that seek to mitigate the impact of the natural disaster on the affected population.
Since the hurricane made landfall, various organizations, community groups and friends of Cuba have mobilized efforts to collect and distribute essential supplies.
Non-perishable food, drinking water, clothing, medicines and personal hygiene kits have been some of the products delivered to families who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
Local authorities have coordinated with volunteers and non-governmental organizations to ensure that donations reach those in most need.
«We are grateful for the solidarity we have received. Every donation counts and makes a big difference in the lives of our families,” said a victim from the Jamal community, adding: “Recovery will be a long process, but together we can overcome it.”
