Guantanamo.- Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, carries out a working visit this Thursday, May 23, to the  Yateras municipality , in Guantanamo Province.

 

 

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, visited the Yateras Municipality, in Guantanamo Province, the fifth that he visits in the province as part of his tours through different territories of the country to evaluate the compliance with the commitments made in 2023 in different areas and the nation’s strategy in favor of re-boosting the economy.

The Cuban president arrived at the Mártires de la Jaiba poultry farm, located in the Carolina area and made up of seven buildings that are dedicated to raising semi-rustic birds for the production of eggs and meat, distributed to the areas of the Turquino Plan.

There is a lot of talent in our town. I am convinced that, together, we can get ahead by working. It is a strength that we were able to confirm during visits to the  Yateras municipality, in the Guantánamo Province, and San Luis, in Santiago de Cuba.

In exchange with the workers, he called on them to recover the production of more than 600 thousand eggs that they previously produced since now they do not reach 50 percent of that record and it does not exceed the demand of the population, given the current challenges of achieving local self-sufficiency.

Eider Álvarez Ramírez, director of the Poultry Enterprise in the Guantánamo Province, explained that at this time they are increasing pork and aquaculture production and the planting of protein plants for the production of animal feed, essential as a complement for reproduction.

Likewise, Díaz-Canel arrived at the warehouse and processing coffee plant and learned about the results of the recent coffee harvest, which is one of the province’s exportable items.

At the Fausto Favier Favier community teaching polyclinic, the President of Cuba knew that this health institution currently offers emergency services, a guard corps, and a laboratory, while an investment process is being carried out, of which he pointed out delays in construction to achieve greater comfort and incorporate other attention.

In that area, the Head of State exchanged with the residents of this municipality, whom he called to preserve the beauty of their town and urged them to increase food production to achieve the food sovereignty that the country aspires to.

At the end of the tour Yateras municipality, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz Canel, visited the Días de la Victoria primary school, where he exchanged with students, teachers and was interested in the quality of the teaching-learning process.
