With the participation of the province´s political and mass authorities as well as workers from the agricultural sector and other sectors, the 2023-2024 Winter Sowing Campaign began in Guantanamo.
The preparation of the land is one of the essential tasks in September, one of the rainiest of the humid period in Cuba and for which a large number of rainy days is forecast.
Similar productive activities were organized in all the municipalities of the province for the start of this campaign.
In Caimanera the main activities took place in the semi-protected area of Cayamo. In San Antonio del Sur, the commitment is 2,700 hectares, focused above all on the growing demand for food and the food sovereignty program.
In 2022, some 18,000 hectares were projected. Among the main crops of the stage are corn and beans.
This season, which runs from September to February, is considered the best planting season, where better weather conditions and lower temperatures prevail, favorable for the vegetative development of crops.
