The workshop “Women and Mangroves: Culture, Tradition, and Sustainability” was held at the Baracoa Conservation Department of Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, as part of the activities of the international EcoAdap project for the Caribbean Biological Corridor.

Residents from the communities of Nibujón, El Recreo, and Santamaría participated in the event, along with workers from the Department and the Alejandro de Humboldt Environmental Services Budget Unit.

Topics such as the gender perspective, the role of women in environmental conservation, and the relationship between women and mangroves were at the center of the discussion.

This exchange of knowledge not only aimed to strengthen understanding of mangrove diversity but also Exploring the power of ecosystems to protect communities.

The debate provided a space for collective reflection, in which experience and knowledge were exchanged to reaffirm mountain women’s commitment to sustainability and mangrove care.

The workshop “Women and Mangroves: Culture, Tradition, and Sustainability” culminated with a presentation of traditional dishes made with local products.
