
Guantanamo.- Guantánamo Province reports a decrease in workplace accidents in the first half of the year 2024. Claritza Martínez García, Safety and Health specialist at the Provincial Labor Directorate, reported that 23 of these regrettable events have occurred, 18 less than in the same period of the previous year.
She added that in the evaluated stage, a fatal accident occurred at the Dairy Products Enterprise, while she pointed out the organizations with the highest incidence, among them, Public Health, Communal Service 2 and the Assurance and Support Enterprise of Education.
She also highlighted the conduct of man as the main cause of workplace accidents in this eastern territory, with a high incidence in the Guantanamo Municipality, which reports 17 work-related accidents, in addition to Baracoa and Niceto Pérez municipalities.
Claritza Martínez García, a specialist in Safety and Health at the Provincial Labor Directorate, refers to the need to offer training to workers, who must be aware of dangers to which they are exposed in their work areas.
She emphasized that although work accidents have decreased in Guantanamo in the current semester, it is necessary to find alternatives to acquire means of protection in the different production and service entities, among other preventive actions.
