The giving of the 23 de Agosto Distinction to Pilar Goulet Salazar and Bárbara Alonso Rojas featured the ceremony awarding women from the Guantanamo municipality of Yateras on the occasion of the upcoming celebration of the women’s Organization.

The recognition endorses their work and performance in the Cuban Women Federation (FMC) whose examples are paradigms in the formation of ethical and revolutionary values, in addition to their leadership in the delegations and blocks to which they belong.

In this sense, experiences were shared and stories for over 40 years were told at the service of the federation adding those who contribute in a multifactorial way, facts that enables the territory the integral condition of the province of Guantánamo.

Yanelquis Claro Muñoz, general secretary of the FMC in the mountainous region, recalled that since 1985 it was agreed to give this distinction to members who have been working uninterruptedly for 20 years or more, contributing to exalting the role of women, and for their attitude towards the defense of the Homeland.

This is, she added, the highest distinction awarded by the organization to which young women from 14 years of age join.
