Guantanamo.- The fifth album Los mismos negros<\/em><\/strong>, recorded by the Guantanamo bassist and composer Yelsy Heredia, based in Spain, is nominated this year 2024 in the category of Best Traditional Tropical Album of the 25th annual Latin Grammy.<\/p>\n

This album, recorded and produced by INEfable Music Studios in Medell\u00edn, Colombia is composed of a blend of the Cuban eastern and the Colombian Pacific sounds with the hallmark of this versatile Guantanamo instrumentalist. Los mismos negros<\/em><\/strong> is the new album containing tracks of the Cuban traditional rhythms such as chang\u00fc\u00ed, kirib\u00e1 and son.<\/p>\n

\u201cLos mismos negros\u201d includes 10 tracks: \u201cFetec\u00fan del Pac\u00edfico\u201d; \u201cAunque no sea de ah\u00ed\u201d; \u201cPay Jos\u00e9\u201d; \u201cYa se casado\u201d; \u201cNo pido m\u00e1s nada\u201d; and the one that gives it its title an \u00e1lbum, defined by its author as: \u201ca sincere affectionate hug<\/strong> between two sister lands, Cuba and Colombia, a conversation around the common identity of these two lands: THE DRUM\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yelsy Heredia is nominated for the Latin Grammys in the category of Best Traditional Tropical Album, together with Jos\u00e9 Alberto \u201cEl Canario\u201d, for his album Rodando Por El Mundo<\/em>; with Luis Fernando Borjas and his album Tengo Algo Que Decirte<\/em>, as well as with Alex Cuba and Yeisy Rojas, for their albums: Voces De Mi Familia<\/em> and A Mis Ancestros<\/em>, respectively.<\/p>\n

This is the second time that the music of the Guantanamo virtuoso double bassist Yelsy Heredia has won a spot at the Latin Grammys, since in 2019 his album Lo Nuestro<\/em><\/strong> was also nominated in this same category during the twentieth edition of this international competition.<\/p>\n

Yelsy Heredia is a true defender of the most deep-rooted rhythms of his country and his native Guant\u00e1namo, with a consolidated artistic career of international projection that includes collaborations with renowned musicians such as Diego El Cigala, Bebo Vald\u00e9s, Ni\u00f1a Pastori, Armando Manzanero, Ern\u00e1n L\u00f3pez-Nussa and Chucho Vald\u00e9s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
