{"id":11989,"date":"2025-02-24T13:07:34","date_gmt":"2025-02-24T18:07:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/?p=11989"},"modified":"2025-02-24T17:04:08","modified_gmt":"2025-02-24T22:04:08","slug":"tribute-to-guantanamo-patriots-130-years-after-the-resumption-of-the-independence-struggles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/tribute-to-guantanamo-patriots-130-years-after-the-resumption-of-the-independence-struggles\/","title":{"rendered":"Tribute to Guantanamo patriots 130 years after the resumption of the independence struggles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-26954 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/homenaje2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"567\" height=\"255\" \/>Guantanamo.- The Guantanamo people pay tribute to Guantanamo mambises who were a glorious page in the struggle for Cuba&#8217;s independence on the 130th anniversary of the resumption of the Necessary War.<\/p>\n<p>On the night of February 23 and awaiting the 24th, a vigil was held, attended by a representation of the Guantanamo people and relatives of the captain of the Liberation Army Jos\u00e9 Seraf\u00edn Rojas Rojas, combatant of the Three Wars for Independence, and of the Mamb\u00ed Corporal Juan Ladislao Ram\u00edrez Rojas, chief of the original descendants.<\/p>\n<p>The vigil, presided over by Yoel P\u00e9rez Garc\u00eda, First Secretary of the Party in the province and Alis Azahares Torreblanca, Governor, was attended by the Major General and Hero of the Republic of Cuba Samuel Rodiles Plana, as well as representatives of the political and mass organizations of the territory, of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution and of the military institutions.<\/p>\n<p>On his Facebook profile, the journalist Geovanis Ram\u00edrez Rojas expressed that today&#8217;s generations remember that on October 8, 1898, General Pedro Agust\u00edn P\u00e9rez and his liberating forces entered victoriously into the city of Guant\u00e1namo and the Plaza de Armas.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fgeovani.ramirezrojas%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02Hdx7YpFHXeMxxmahg5pjFry4HDQY2nTjKcSZaexyh7RVtXjDf25pTgkzoMyk67ACl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"582\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Among the combatants integrated into the Hatuey Regiment were Captain Seraf\u00edn Rojas Rojas and Corporal Ladislao Ram\u00edrez Rojas and today the immortal remains of the two indigenous heroes, descendants of Cuban Ta\u00ednos, enter the same Plaza on February 24, a source of pride for the Guantanamo people who honor them.<\/p>\n<p>The rebellious spirit and wisdom of our Taino ancestors guide us to this day in the constant defense of the sovereignty of the sacred homeland. Cuba is a Taino word. The mortal remains of the fighters of the Liberation Army, Captain Jos\u00e9 Seraf\u00edn Rojas Rojas and the Corporal and chief Juan Ladislao Ram\u00edrez Rojas, receive the homage of the people of Guantanamo, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the beginning of the Necessary War.<\/p>\n<p>From the General Pedro A.
