While reservoirs\u2014which had been almost depleted as drought gripped the region\u2014reached record levels, the drinking water supply system faces challenges in restoring service to thousands of residents.<\/p>\n<p>According to Lexis Su\u00e1rez Ram\u00edrez, provincial director of Water and Sewerage, \u201cthe impact of Melissa on the province\u2019s 10 municipalities was beneficial, as we were facing a long-term drought period, and all the reservoirs collected an average of 95 percent of their full capacity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa Yaya reservoir, which has fallen to record lows, reached its maximum capacity of 160 million cubic meters and is overflowing.
