\"\"Guant\u00e1namo.- The housing shortage is one of the most persistent social problems in Guant\u00e1namo Province, exacerbated in recent years by the impact of extreme weather events and the limited availability of traditional building materials.<\/p>\n

In this context, the province is implementing an unconventional construction alternative: homes made from shipping containers, conceived to provide immediate<\/em> shelter for families<\/em> whose homes have been completely destroyed.<\/p>\n

This program is part of the state housing investment plan and arose from the repurposing of shipping containers used to import solar panels for photovoltaic parks.<\/p>\n

Once their logistical function was fulfilled, these metal structures became available, and therefore, it was proposed to use them as an alternative housing project with national technical and regulatory support.<\/p>\n

According to Madelaine Pellegr\u00edn Toranzo, investment specialist at the Provincial Housing Directorate and head of the program in Guant\u00e1namo, the initiative is inspired by international experiences, adapted to the country’s specific conditions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
