Guantanamo \u2013 During the opening gala of the 47th Guantanamo Culture Week, the Provincial Award for Best Art Instructor 2025 was conferred upon Yenny Thompson Salazar for her outstanding work as the driving force behind the Genesis dance project in the municipality of Caimanera. This award is given annually by the Center of Houses of Culture to the best instructor in the province.<\/p>\n
Also, as part of this opening event, and coinciding with Art Instructor’s Day, the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed Brigade of the province awarded special recognitions to two of its members for their meritorious work: Daniela Guilarte Matos from Guant\u00e1namo, specializing in dance, and Israibel Fr\u00f3meta Sam\u00f3n from Caimanero, specializing in visual arts.<\/p>\n
The Babul Folkloric Ballet and the Danza Libre and Danza Fragmentada dance companies performed in this inaugural event of the 40th Guant\u00e1namo Culture Week that commemorates the 148th birth anniversary of the intellectual Regino E. Boti and the 131st anniversary of the February 24, 1895, independence uprising in La Confianza, led by the patriot Pedro Agust\u00edn P\u00e9rez.<\/p>\n

Singer-songwriter Claudio Casal, soloist Dayamis Lores, and members of Proyecto Loco and the Colmenita Guant\u00e1namo Children’s Theater Company also participated in this opening gala, in which the Municipal Directorate of Culture honored the Colmenita Guantanamo for its 15th anniversary, the Renacer Cossi\u00e1 Group for its 25th anniversary, and the Municipal Directorate of Sports.<\/p>\n

As it is tradition the Guant\u00e1namo Culture Week takes place from February 18 to 24.
