\"\"Guantanamo.- In Guant\u00e1namo, 70 container homes are being built, distributed among the municipalities of San Antonio del Sur (15 units), Guant\u00e1namo (20 units under construction), and Im\u00edas (35 units). These homes are delivered to families affected by total collapse of houses caused by Hurricanes Oscar and Melissa and by the intense rains of last September.<\/p>\n

The shipping container houses is an alternative, which does not replace traditional house construction, but it brings solutions in a context of resource scarcity and the housing deficit, one of the most persistent social problems in Cuba’s easternmost province.<\/p>\n

The program is part of the state housing investment plan and repurposes shipping containers used for importing solar panels for photovoltaic parks, with national technical and regulatory support.<\/p>\n

Each home is 12-meter-long container, with an approximate usable area of \u200b\u200b29 square meters, designed for families of up to four people.<\/p>\n

It includes two bedrooms, an en-suite bathroom, a kitchen with a countertop, a living\/dining room, and natural ventilation, as well as the necessary plumbing and electrical installations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
