The specialists alternated readings from Jos\u00e9 Lezama Lima, Dulce Mar\u00eda Loynaz, and Onelio Jorge Cardoso with passages from Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez, Benedetti, and excerpts from classic Russian and French literature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not about imposing readings, but about sparking wonder,\u201d explained Mendoza Calzado, who also emphasized the need to encourage young people\u2019s reading habits in which leisure time is often dominated by audiovisual communication.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Jes\u00fas Coiy Rodr\u00edguez highlighted the immediate response from young people, many of whom approached out of curiosity and ended up actively participating. \u201cSome asked for recommendations, others shared verses they remembered from school. The essential thing is that books became a topic of conversation on the street again,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>The activity is part of a broader program by the Di\u00f3medes Silveria Vald\u00e9s House of Culture to decentralize access to literature, especially among younger generations.
