\"\"Guantanamo.- Performances inspired by Abdala, the patriotic poem by Cuban National Hero Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed, together with readings recalling passages from his Campaign Diary following his landing at Playita de Cajobabo, highlighted commemorations in Guant\u00e1namo marking the 131st anniversary of Mart\u00ed\u2019s death in combat.<\/p>\n

The tribute took place at Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed Park in the eastern Cuban city, with the participation of Yoel P\u00e9rez Garc\u00eda, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party in the territory.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, provincial authorities and members of the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed Brigade of Art Instructors laid a floral tribute before the sculpture honoring Cuba\u2019s National Hero. Musical selections performed by the provincial Concert Band also served as a tribute to Mart\u00ed\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n

The event additionally featured performances by singer Yaneisy Oquendo and the mixed choir Voz Tempo, both part of the artistic roster of the Provincial Music Center Lil\u00ed Mart\u00ednez Gri\u00f1\u00e1n. Fragments of the CMKS radio program \u201cEncuentro con el Maestro,\u201d dedicated to promoting Mart\u00ed\u2019s ideas and thought, were also broadcast during the gathering.<\/p>\n

Primary and secondary school students from educational institutions across the province attended the commemoration, alongside children from the Mariano \u00c1lvarez daycare center dressed as characters from the children\u2019s book \u201cLa Edad de Oro.\u201d<\/p>\n

Members of the provincial branch of the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed Cultural Society in Guant\u00e1namo were also present at the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
