\"\"Guantanamo,- In a significant move toward energy self-sufficiency and enhanced connectivity, the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) has initiated the first phase of an ambitious photovoltaic solar panel installation project in the municipality of El Salvador.<\/p>\n

This initiative is designed to protect telecommunications networks from disruptions linked to the National Electrical System and is already delivering tangible benefits in the municipal capital.<\/p>\n

Eider Garc\u00eda Romero, the regional Head of Telecommunications, shared details of this initial deployment with the press: \u201cIn this first stage, sixteen solar panels were installed, providing a battery capacity of twenty kilowatts (20 kW) and an inverter capacity of ten kilowatts (10 kW).\u201d<\/p>\n

He emphasized that these specifications will ensure the uninterrupted operation of essential services. \u201cWith this configuration, fixed-line telephone services can be maintained stably twenty-four hours a day, alongside business data systems and the Nauta Hogar home internet service,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

However, Garc\u00eda Romero noted an important condition for residential internet users: \u201cThis energy backup guarantees service stability provided the customer maintains a power connection at home\u2014such as through an Ecoflou unit or their own solar panels\u2014that keeps the modem operational during power outages.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\" Additionally, a notable accomplishment was the successful establishment of Wi-Fi connectivity in the town center, offering improved public access to internet services.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Garc\u00eda Romero confirmed that this is only the project\u2019s first phase. \u201cIn the second phase, more panels will be installed to secure the stability of mobile phone service,\u201d he stated. Currently, the benefits of the solar backup system are concentrated in El Salvador\u2019s town center.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe company\u2019s objective is to extend this energy solution to every community in the region,\u201d Garc\u00eda Romero affirmed, underscoring ETECSA\u2019s commitment to reducing communications vulnerability caused by power fluctuations and expanding connectivity for residents in the eastern part of the country.<\/p>\n
