against the genocidal policy of the United States, as he led the main event for National Rebellion Day.

During the ceremony held in the province of Pinar del Río, the site of the main event commemorating the 73rd anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, the president conveyed a message from the leader of the Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro, who sent “a big hug” to the people of Pinar del Río and acknowledged the honor of hosting the main event.

“Like the centennial generation that charged with simple rifles against the walls of two barracks of the Batista dictatorship 73 years ago, the current generations are going against the walls of a genocidal policy that has set out to suffocate the entire people in order to seize the country,” Díaz-Canel said.

The president recalled that, although the attack on the Moncada Barracks failed militarily, that action “ignited the small engine that set in motion the large engine of the Cuban Revolution.”

“In memory of all, I would like to point out that this is the first July 26th since the triumph of 1959 in which we are not accompanied by the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez,” Díaz-Canel stated, while describing the deceased hero as a protagonist of all the feats fought by the Cuban nation.

He also highlighted the everyday heroism of the Cuban people “amid blackouts and shortages of all kinds.”

Díaz-Canel congratulated Pinar del Río for the results in fulfilling the main tasks in the political, economic and social spheres, with the leading role of workers, farmers, intellectuals and young people.

He highlighted the constant work that has made it possible to boost food production and the agility in the process of delivering land in usufruct.

He also highlighted tobacco production, a symbol of the territory, and the links in the food industry with non-state management forms, as well as the role of the University of Pinar del Río in territorial development, constituting a benchmark for the rest of the country.

The president highlighted the sustained work of cultural outreach in the communities and the defense of Pinar del Río’s culture and identity, as well as the established work system that has allowed for a greater connection with communities in vulnerable situations.

Cuban President denounces coldly calculated genocide by the United States

The president also stressed that the island is “the victim of a coldly calculated genocide” by the United States government, which has designed and implemented a policy of maximum economic strangulation.

At the event commemorating National Rebellion Day, the president denounced that Washington has intensified its six-decade-long blockade policy by imposing an energy and financial embargo that is causing “a profound crisis in the electrical power system, blackouts lasting more than a day, the paralysis of industries, and affecting tens of thousands of workers.”

Díaz-Canel questioned the actions of the State Department officials, whom he described as “experts in drafting sanctions, making lists, inventing pretexts,” and compared them to “the drafters of military decrees and edicts who were so feared and hated in the dark times of the Middle Ages or during the Nazi occupations in World War II.”

The head of state denounced that Washington has declared “a world war against the left and Cuba as the capital of communism in the 21st century.”

“By accusing Cuba, they are not only looking for a scapegoat, an external agent, they are looking for someone to blame for the protests of the sectors most affected by an economy that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer,” he stated.

Díaz-Canel stressed that “the immense pain of Cuban families is confirmed in statistics,” with deaths caused by the lack of medicines and more than 100,000 surgeries that cannot be performed due to blackouts and the lack of fuel for backup generators.

“The only threat to security in the region, the true and real threat to world peace and to human life, is the policy of aggression that causes famine, impoverishment, disorderly migrations, chaos, instability, and tens of thousands of deaths around the world,” the president declared.

Cuban President urges facing current challenges with hope

Miguel Díaz-Canel called on the people of the island to face the enormous challenges of today with hope, fortitude and optimism, with the unwavering conviction of victory.

“The call now is for action, not to wait, not to lament, not to be complacent, to think as a country, to boldly seek alternatives, to take care of every resource as if it were the last, to produce, to substitute imports, to develop our potential, to trust in our own strength,” the president stressed at the main event for National Rebellion Day.

He urged every Cuban, from their workplace, in their field, in their workshop, in their school or in their neighborhood, to be a protagonist in what the country is doing to overcome this moment.

The head of state reaffirmed his commitment to the homeland, to the Revolution, to the achievements of socialism, and to the task of rebuilding an economy battered by centuries of colonialism, decades of neocolonialism, and more than 60 years of reinforced blockade, which has become a genocidal plan.

“May each dawn find us standing ready to fight,” declared the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Regarding the actions being taken to overcome the difficulties, Díaz-Canel emphasized that all sectors of society are working together to innovate, contribute, and modify technologies that allow us to continue moving forward.

“Our response to suffocation is inventiveness, creativity, and, though it may bother them, also the joy of the Cuban people. The response to the blockade is intelligent and efficient effort. The response to attempts to isolate and divide us is unity,” the president said from Pinar del Río Square, the site of the celebrations commemorating the events of July 26, 1953.

He indicated that unity does not mean uniformity, but that, despite differences in styles, dynamics and ways of facing challenges, the same objective is shared: that Cuba be a socialist, sovereign, independent, dignified and prosperous country, without leaving anyone behind.

He also warned that creativity and effort, however heroic, are not enough to dismantle the structures of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States; hence the importance of efficiently implementing economic and social transformations.

He explained that the country is carrying out a macroeconomic stabilization process and is strengthening all forms of management, stimulating workers and farmers, and opening spaces for responsible investment, always under the principle that changes cannot be divorced from social justice.

He affirmed that Cuba is and will be a sovereign country, that no one under any circumstances has the right to decide for the Caribbean nation, and that “economic, political and social decisions are and will be ours.”

Díaz-Canel reiterated that, in the centennial year of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, Cubans are called to honor his memory with deeds, with work, with dignity, and with sufficient clarity and determination to implement the necessary transformations in the shortest possible time.

Source: Radio Progreso

President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez affirmed today that Cuba is waging “a historic battle, a new Moncada” against the genocidal policy of the United States, as he led the main event for National Rebellion Day.
