{"id":17116,"date":"2026-08-10T15:34:45","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T19:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/?p=17116"},"modified":"2026-08-10T15:35:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T19:35:16","slug":"first-international-colloquium-pn-fidel-legacy-opens-in-havana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/first-international-colloquium-pn-fidel-legacy-opens-in-havana\/","title":{"rendered":"First International Colloquium pn Fidel Legacy Opens in Havana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-17115 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/coloquio-1-1-585x439-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"585\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/coloquio-1-1-585x439-1.jpg 585w, https:\/\/www.radioguantanamo.icrt.cu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/coloquio-1-1-585x439-1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/>Guantanamo.- Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel took part on Monday in the opening of the First International Colloquium \u201cFidel: Legacy and Future,\u201d dedicated to the historical leader of the Revolution.<\/p>\n<p>The director of the Fidel Castro Studies Center, Ren\u00e9 Barrios, stated that this meeting is taking place in a particularly complex international context, where it is increasingly necessary to return to the thinking of the Commander-in-Chief.<\/p>\n<p>Also participating in the opening were the President of the National Assembly of People\u2019s Power, Esteban Lazo; the Prime Minister of the Republic, Manuel Marrero; the Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales; as well as other leaders representing social and mass organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The event, which will run until Thursday, August 13th \u2014 the centennial of the revolutionary leader\u2019s birth \u2014 is conceived as a grand, pluralistic and diverse popular celebration with an inclusive and emancipatory purpose. At the same time, it constitutes an academic, political and scientific space for reflection and action.<\/p>\n<p>The gathering, which brings together more than 1,500 delegates, including over one thousand from around 60 countries, will address Fidel Castro\u2019s role as a revolutionary, statesman, and military strategist, his political and social ideology, Marxist practice and the construction of socialism in Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, his impact on foreign policy, the struggle for peace and anti-imperialism, as well as his humanist and internationalist legacy in education, science, culture, health, and sports will be analyzed.<\/p>\n<p>The First International Colloquium \u201cFidel: Legacy and Future\u201d will also highlight his cultural impact on the arts and popular memory, the relevance of his thinking to the challenges of the 21st century, and unity as a strategy for regional integration and cooperation, with an emphasis on social justice, sovereignty, and self-determination of peoples<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>IMAGE CREDIT: Photos: Endrys Correa Vaillant (FotosPL)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[ SOURCE: PRENSA LATINA ]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guantanamo.- Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel took part on Monday in the opening of the First International Colloquium \u201cFidel: Legacy and Future,\u201d dedicated to the historical leader of the Revolution.
