The cultural gala “Rebellious Olive Tree,” held at the Guaso Theater in Cuba\u2019s easternmost province, brought together multiple generations of Guant\u00e1namo artists to commemorate the centennial of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz\u2019s birth. Through a rich artistic program, the event paid homage to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, celebrating his enduring legacy.<\/p>\n

The Provincial Concert Band, accompanied by the Voz Tempo and Guant\u00e1namo Male Choirs, delivered a stirring performance of “Yo soy Fidel” (“I am Fidel”), arranged by Maestro Conrado Monier, which added a poignant dimension to the tribute. Renowned pianist Ren\u00e9 M\u00e9ndez and emerging flautist Ren\u00e9 V\u00e1zquez Porto contributed with distinguished musical collaborations under the artistic direction of L\u00e1zaro McPherson Williams.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the commemorative gala were choreographic presentations dedicated to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz by the dance companies Danza Libre, Danza Fragmentada, and Ballet Folkl\u00f3rico Babul.<\/p>\n

The event also featured the lively rhythms of Chang\u00fc\u00ed Guant\u00e1namo and the troubadour-style songs performed by singer-songwriter Josu\u00e9 Oliva. Additionally, lute virtuoso Jes\u00fas Fern\u00e1ndez and guitarist Adalberto Su\u00e1rez accompanied improvisational poet Lino Matos, enriching the program\u2019s cultural tapestry.<\/p>\n

Among the local cultural community\u2019s tributes were performances by art instructor Dayamis Lores of the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed Brigade, soloist Liban Durruthy, and recitations by Beatriz Soto, \u00c1ngel Boffil, and Gustavo S\u00e1nchez. The Colmenita Guant\u00e1namo theater group also contributed to the evening\u2019s array of artistic expressions.<\/p>\n

The commemorative gala was attended by Yoel P\u00e9rez Garc\u00eda, First Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Governor Alis Azahares Torreblanca, alongside representatives from various institutions, sectors, and political and mass organizations in the region. Their presence underscored the profound respect and admiration of the people of Guant\u00e1namo for Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on the occasion of his centennial.<\/p>\n
