Of the province\u2019s 204 wells, 90 have already been inspected to determine whether their water is safe for human consumption.<\/p>\n<p>They also stressed the need to survey potential sites for the construction of new wells to help maintain water supplies amid the province\u2019s complex energy situation.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities further called for the cleaning of overflowing septic tanks and the removal of obstructions in areas such as Centro and Ho Chi Minh in Guant\u00e1namo City. These measures are intended to prevent flooding as rainy conditions persist in some parts of the province.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Electric Company reported that eight transformers had arrived in Guant\u00e1namo. Two were sent to Baracoa, while the remaining six will be installed in neighborhoods across Guant\u00e1namo City\u2014known locally as Guaso\u2014as well as at the Pre-University Vocational Institute of Exact Sciences and the EIDER Sports Initiation School.<\/p>\n<p>The territorial division of ETECSA, Cuba\u2019s telecommunications company, reported that backup generator coverage was available and that work was continuing on the installation of photovoltaic systems to support essential telecommunications services.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Alis Azahares also emphasized that the commercial sector must incorporate all non-state actors and entities engaged in retail sales to ensure the smooth distribution of goods.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also addressed the monitoring of pension payments, the availability of diesel and other fuels for healthcare facilities, and the inclusion of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), among other providers, in solid-waste collection services in the municipality of Guant\u00e1namo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guantanamo.- The need to identify alternative water sources beyond the use of tank trucks for residents of the drought-affected municipalities of Im\u00edas, Manuel Tames, and Mais\u00ed was among the issues discussed at the daily vitality meeting.
