The fourth edition of the provincial scientific symposium \u201cHeritage, Identity, and Cultural Processes,\u201d sponsored by the S\u00f3crates Villal\u00f3n Center for Cultural Professional Development as part of the Cuban Culture Celebration, opened in Guant\u00e1namo with a panel titled \u201c50 Years: Many Voices and a Single Culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

The panel was led by Doctors of Science Migdalia Tamayo T\u00e9llez and Noralis Palomo D\u00edaz and moderated by researcher Jos\u00e9 Cuenca Sosa. Held at the Artex Caf\u00e9 Cantante Am\u00e9rica and dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the founding of Cuba\u2019s Ministry of Culture, the session examined the institution\u2019s establishment and its importance to the country.<\/p>\n

Tamayo T\u00e9llez and Palomo D\u00edaz also highlighted the humanist legacy of intellectual Armando Hart D\u00e1valos, who headed the ministry after its creation.<\/p>\n

Researchers, historians, artists, and specialists and staff members from the centers and councils that make up Guant\u00e1namo\u2019s cultural institutional system attended the event. Before the main proceedings, the Danza Libre Company performed, while students from the Professional School of Music\u2014specializing in the tres and la\u00fad\u2014presented musical works by Adriana Amador.<\/p>\n

As part of the symposium, which is being held within the framework of the local Cuban Culture Celebration, an audiovisual presentation commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Guant\u00e1namo Center for Cultural Professional Development is scheduled for Tuesday at Caf\u00e9 Cantante Am\u00e9rica. The venue will also host presentations of the academic research and studies prepared for the occasion.<\/p>\n
