Lay Trujillo, chief prosecutor of the Directorate of Family Protection and Jurisdictional Affairs, explained at a press conference that up to May 2023, jurists participated in 2,105 processes, a figure that exceeds that of a similar stage in 2022.<\/p>\n

Trujillo highlighted that this trend is also an outcome of 2019 changes in both the Constitution and the procedural reform, texts that reformulate earlier conceptions on family and civil matters, among other topics. She further noted that the Family Code, approved by the National Assembly of People\u2019s Power \u2013parliament\u2013 on July 22 2022, modifies and makes more noticeable the participation of the prosecutor.<\/p>\n

The chief prosecutor added that legal professionals have an active presence in divorce proceedings, custody, care and alimony claims.<\/p>\n

Trujillo exemplified that the prosecutor can challenge maternity or paternity, intervenes in all matters related to divorce, especially when there is a minor product of marriage.<\/p>\n

The Families Code, also known as the code of affections, seeks the person\u2019s welfare, not only from consanguinity, but also in good behavior, in attentions and care, and in solidarity.<\/p>\n

It also recognizes dignity as the supreme value and foundation of the rest of the rights recognized in the Constitution of the Republic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
