The 14th Nicol\u00e1s Guill\u00e9n Colloquium and Festival will be held in Havana from May 8 to 10, 2024, according to the event\u2019s organizers, and it will focus on the life and work of Cuba’s National Poet.<\/p>\n

he event will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of his poetry book \u201cWest Indies Ltd.,\u201d the 60th anniversary of \u201cTengo\u201d (I Have), another of his most renowned books of poetry, and the 80th birthday of writer and essayist Nancy Morejon, winner of the National Literature Award.<\/p>\n

According to the Nicol\u00e1s Guill\u00e9n Foundation, the meeting will address fundamental theme axes, including a reflection on the challenges and perspectives of social inequalities in Latin America and the Caribbean in the last few decades.<\/p>\n

The Foundation explained that lectures, panels, debates, book launches, exhibitions, audiovisual screenings, concerts and poetry readings will take place during the colloquium and festival.<\/p>\n

Born in Camag\u00fcey, in central Cuba, Nicol\u00e1s Guill\u00e9n (1902-1989) has an extensive work that started at a young age, when he began to publish articles for his hometown newspaper and poems that were not published at the time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
